Biomedical dealings with the fetal and embryonic human life have called for a discussion of the new bioethical problems that confront physicians, medical researchers, infertile couples, and pregnant women. The practice of abortion has been from the earliest times a much ethically debated issue. But it became recently quite possible to technically reproduce embryos. Moreover embryos became the object of scientific examination and technical use. The problem of dealing with human embryos and fetuses is no longer relevant only in relation to abortion. It is many kinds of problematic circumstances that they fall into. Nevertheless, the moral status of a human embryo is asked about in all contexts. The presentations of the question make a difference by various ethical theories. Then we must ask from a critical viewpoint toward status-discussion, if the question about the moral status of a human embryo is necessary to solve actual bioethical problems over dealings with the fetal and embryonic human life.
