Research Abstract
世界的に有名なミクロネシア連邦チューク諸島に沈む第二次世界大戦期の水中文化遺産の概要調査を実施し保護対象を検討する。その成果共有を通じ、環太平洋地域の水中戦争遺跡の保護と平和教育への活用をめざす。 戦争関連水中文化遺産について、全てを保存し続けるのは現実的には不可能であろう。そこでまず必要となるのは保護対象の候補となる沈没船等をリストアップして概要調査を行い、その結果、学術的見地から重要な保護対象 にするべきものを抽出することである。将来的には、その選定された水中文化遺産に対して詳細調査を実施し、記録し、日本の第二次世界大戦を考える上での学術的評価を加え、保護のための仕組みをつくることをめざす。
