Research Abstract
久米島のハテノ浜、宮古島の八重干瀬、石垣島の石西礁湖、これら３つの大規模な珊瑚礁海域が船舶にとっては極めて危険な暗礁海域であったと仮定し、潜水調査によってそれぞれの海域の沈没船遺跡の詳細を明らかにするとともに、この海域の文献記録や現代の海人（漁師）からこの海域の利用方法を聞き取るなど、それぞれの珊瑚礁海域の特徴を浮き彫りとし、比較研究を行うことで新たな地域・海域史の探求を行う。
