Research Abstract
中性子は寿命約880秒で崩壊する最も単純な原子核であり、その寿命は素粒子、原子核、天文分野における重要なパラメーターである。しかし、測定手法の違いにより9秒以上の乖離があり、“中性子寿命問題”として未解決の課題となっている。本研究ではJ-PARCの大強度中性子ビームと新たに導入する超伝導ソレノイド磁石を用い、背景を抑えた新手法により中性子寿命を1秒の精度で測定し、この問題の解明を目指す。
