Research Abstract
アフリカが起源地とされる私たちサピエンスは、海域アジアからオセアニアの島嶼域へ拡散する過程で、海洋適応を進めた可能性が指摘されてきました。そこで本研究では、海域アジアに進出したサピエンスによる最古の痕跡が得られつつある島嶼域として、インドネシアと琉球列島の洞窟遺跡で新たな発掘を行う計画です。さらに出土する可能性が極めて高い①石器や貝器、②動物遺存体、③古人骨を対象とした学際的な考古・人類学的研究に加え、古環境復元や洞窟形成に関わる地質学的調査を同時に実施することで、海域アジアに進出したサピエンスの初期移住年代、移住集団の実像、渡海と海洋適応、島の古環境と人類による島嶼適応の実像に迫ります。
