Hot wire anemometry is generally used to measure the velocity fluctuation of turbulent gas flow. However, for liquid flow application of hot wire method is not always convenient because of several difficulties of measuring technique. Therefore, reports on experimental results are few for turbulent liquid flow. We measured the velocity fluctuation of turbulent water flow behind a grid using constant temperature hot film anemometer and investigated the influence of water temperature, sticking of bubble or other contaminants and the direction of flow. The results are treated digitally to obtain properties concerning to the structure of turbulence, and several remarks are made about their calculation.
