Description
Kara-Tepe is a famous Buddhist site situated at the outskirts of Termez city in the Surkhandarya province of Uzbekistan. It was first excavated about 50 years ago. A research party from Rissho University performed an excavation at the Western district of the Northern Hill site of Kara-Tepe between 2014 and 2017. Through this, considerable results were obtained. In this paper, I observed the change in Kara-Tepe's cave monastery. especially paying attention to the plan of the caves. Resultingly, the cave's corridor changed its straight-line-shaped plan. This change of plan assumed that the alteration of the circle ceremony (paradaksina) -which is strictly a practice to brevity act-is reflected in the plan.
