Abstract
In this essay, I have treated the transition from his early style to his later one. First selecting "The White Birds" from among his early poems, I discussed the characteristics of his early lyrics. So far, the poet established his position as a symbolist. Early in this century, however, he underwent a change in his style. After his years with the Abbey Theater, he added the new element of realism in his poetry. After 1910, he developed his idea of dramatic lyric, which solved his ultimate theme-the conflict between time and eternity,
