抄録

In community planning making good use of the local characteristic, it is important to clarify the historical circumstances which have specified the present city environment, and to consider the modern meaning of the past occurrence. Based on a case of former Niigata town area in Niigata city, I analyzed the transitional process of urban planning since modernization based on the survey of the books about local history, the administrative data and hearing to the parsons related to administration. As a result, it became clear that urban planning in former Niigata town area since modernization can be divided into six periods by the difference of the characteristics, and the transitional process and the correlation of the each matter relevant to urban planning became clear.
