A Utility-based Voting Algorithm and Its Application to Altruistic and Hedonic Games
Search this article
Description
Majority decision is commonly used when we make collective choice, but it has some problems. One of the weaknesses is that it doesn't reflect the sum of everyone's utility. So we suggest putting weight on each person's utility, using scoring algorithm. It changes the result of vote, and helps reduce complaints. It is also possible to apply this algorithm to altruistic and hedonic games. In our paper, we mention slightly modified majority decision system. Then we show it is inadequate to reflect everyone's utility also in these games, and utility scoring system is useful.
