Abstract

'Resilience', means "adopting successfully", is now a key word in helping professions because the concept of resilience focuses on individual's strengths and assets. Interdisciplinary researches have developed worldwide. This article aims to discuss the essence of resilience by reviewing literatures and identify the importance of the concept of resilience in social work, especially social work practice with children and families. It is also discussed some issues when we apply the concept of resilience into social work with children and families in Japan.
