皮膚電気反射(GSR)の身体各部位での潜時の差異を検査しているとき,正常被験者において従来の神経伝導時間の差や皮膚温そのほかによる皮膚汗腺の活動の違いというような末梢での現象では説明困難な潜時のパターンを数多く見出した。極端な場合には身体各部位のGSR潜時がほぼ等しいこともある。潜時のパターンが同一被験者においてほかのパターンに跳躍的に変化する例もしばしば観察された。潜時の変化が血流遮断の影響をうけない例もあった。二重刺激による回復曲線にはふたつの曲線の存在が推定された。これらの事実から皮膚電気反射の潜時には中枢の関与が多大であると推測される。

Galvanic skin reflexes were recorded from various parts of ten healthy university students : forhead, left and right palm and sole. Latency pattern of the four positions changed sometimes abruptly from one pattern to another, for example from OLP to ILP in three of ten subjects. An ILP was not influenced by circulation block and temperature fall. In recovery process of GSR after double stimuli two recovery curves were assumed to exist: one represented inhibition-facilitation sequence and the other only facilitation. These facts suggested that predominant importance of the processing time in CNS to the GSR latency. Possibility was discussed on a hypothesis that the CNS had preset reaction patterns of GSR and stimuli released any one of them according to the reactive state of CNS.
