This medium exploits a novel phenotypic characteristic of Salmonella spp.: the formation of acid from propylene glycol. This characteristic may be used in combination with a chromogenic indicator of beta-galactosidase to differentiate Salmonella spp. from Proteus spp. and the other members of the Enterobacteriaceae. Desoxycholate may be included in the plate medium as an inhibitor of gram-positive organisms. Non-typhi Salmonella spp. yield distinct, bright red colonies on this medium, allowing facilitated identification and unambiguous differentiation from Proteus spp.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380574095904091776","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"A Rambach"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Laboratoires Technogram, Paris, France."}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"00992240"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"10985336"},{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"http://id.crossref.org/issn/00992240"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Applied and Environmental Microbiology"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"American Society for Microbiology"}],"prism:publicationDate":"1990-01","prism:volume":"56","prism:number":"1","prism:startingPage":"301","prism:endingPage":"303"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["https://journals.asm.org/non-commercial-tdm-license"],"url":[{"@id":"https://journals.asm.org/doi/pdf/10.1128/aem.56.1.301-303.1990"}],"createdAt":"2020-01-01","modifiedAt":"2022-02-23","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360567189377739648","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Distribution of extended-spectrum cephalosporin resistance determinants inSalmonella enterica andEscherichia coli isolated from broilers in southern Japan"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390282681401748480","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Detection of Salmonella by Using the Colorimetric DNA/rRNA Sandwich Hybridization in Microtiter Wells."}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1128/aem.56.1.301-303.1990"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.3382/ps.2012-02934_references_DOI_PZIHNhUzL8XF4cotm7K35J2uu8A"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1292/jvms.62.615_references_DOI_5nj3JSc5ng6KH8R7Z1OlcdJRwf7"}]}
