Here, we present the first high‐resolution particulate REE and Nd isotope data from the Arctic Ocean and discuss the possible seawater‐particle processes affecting the Arctic Ocean. Our results show that particulate [REE] are on the same order of magnitude as in other ocean basins, suggesting that particle composition is the main cause for a lack of pREE release to the dissolved pool. The lithogenic fraction dominates throughout the water column while the biogenic material contribution is very small. This paucity of biogenic material results in reduced particle‐seawater exchanges of REEs and Nd isotopes. Moreover, we note only slight differences in the dissolved Nd isotope composition between the Eurasian and Canadian Basins. This is due to the different source regions supplying different dissolved and particulate Nd isotope signatures to both basins. The dissolved [REE] and Nd isotope composition of Atlantic waters are modified during their flow paths through contributions from the Kara Sea, lowering the salinity and increasing [dREE] and dNd isotope compositions. Hydrothermal influence from the Gakkel Ridge on dissolved and particulate [REE] and Nd isotopes could not be detected.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375747","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Ronja Paffrath"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Marine Isotope Geochemistry Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) University of Oldenburg  Oldenburg Germany"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375746","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Katharina Pahnke"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Marine Isotope Geochemistry Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) University of Oldenburg  Oldenburg Germany"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375616","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Philipp Böning"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Marine Isotope Geochemistry Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) University of Oldenburg  Oldenburg Germany"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375745","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Michiel Rutgers van der Loeff"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Alfred‐Wegener‐Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research  Bremerhaven Germany"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375749","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Ole Valk"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Alfred‐Wegener‐Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research  Bremerhaven Germany"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375744","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Sandra Gdaniec"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Geosciences Swedish Museum of Natural History  Stockholm Sweden"},{"@value":"Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l'Environnement LSCE/IPSL CEA‐CNRS‐UVSQ Université Paris‐Saclay  Gif‐sur‐Yvette France"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239237375748","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Hélène Planquette"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"University of Brest CNRS IRD Ifremer LEMAR  Plouzané France"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"21699275"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"21699291"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"American Geophysical Union (AGU)"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2021-07-29","prism:volume":"126","prism:number":"8"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/"],"url":[{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1029/2021JC017423"},{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full-xml/10.1029/2021JC017423"},{"@id":"https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1029/2021JC017423"}],"createdAt":"2021-07-16","modifiedAt":"2023-08-28","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/2050307417130252800","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Refining the contribution of riverine particulate release to the global marine Nd budget"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1029/2021jc017423"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1186/s40645-022-00479-2_references_DOI_1pTKgzPOlkVYvfKmfNfRoUtY9c1"}]}
