The channels collocate with ring current (RC) injections lagging the onset of substorms by a few to ∼20 min, i.e., significantly shorter than the gradient‐curvature drift time of tens of keV ions. The time lag is of the order of the propagation time of reconnection‐injected hot plasma jets to the premidnight plasmasphere and the substorm current wedge (SCW) to dusk. The observations confirm and expand on the previous results on the SAID features that negate the paradigm of voltage and current generators. Fast‐time duskside SAPS/RC injections appear intimately related to a two‐loop circuit of the substorm current wedge (SCW2L). We suggest that the poleward electric field inherent in the SCW2L circuit, which demands closure of the Region 1 and Region 2 sense field‐aligned currents via meridional currents, is the ultimate cause of fast RC injections and SAPS on the duskside.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239634296192","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Evgeny Mishin"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Space Vehicles Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB  Albuquerque New Mexico USA"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239634296194","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Yukitoshi Nishimura"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences University of California  Los Angeles California USA"},{"@value":"Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Center for Space Physics Boston University  Boston Massachusetts USA"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380580239634296193","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"John Foster"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Haystack Observatory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology  Westford Massachusetts USA"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"21699380"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"21699402"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"American Geophysical Union (AGU)"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2017-08","prism:volume":"122","prism:number":"8","prism:startingPage":"8516","prism:endingPage":"8535"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1002%2F2017JA024263"},{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/2017JA024263"},{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full-xml/10.1002/2017JA024263"},{"@id":"https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/am-pdf/10.1002/2017JA024263"},{"@id":"https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/2017JA024263"}],"createdAt":"2017-08-02","modifiedAt":"2023-10-02","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360025429412558976","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Obtaining Continental‐Scale, High‐Resolution 2‐D Ionospheric Flows and Application to Meso‐Scale Flow Science"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360298754807771776","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Small‐Scale Irregularities Within Polarization Jet/SAID During Geomagnetic Activity"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1002/2017ja024263"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1029/2024ja032924_references_DOI_EINuOhHyLVgTU35RBLVFqiBnYLN"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1029/2021gl097107_references_DOI_EINuOhHyLVgTU35RBLVFqiBnYLN"}]}
