In the majority of cases, there is evidence of a central role for cognate immunity in the initiation of human GN and contributions of both humoral and cellular effector mechanisms have been demonstrated in both humans and in animal models. T helper cell subsets are known to activate different immune effector mechanisms which influence disease outcomes in infectious and autoimmune diseases and evidence is now accumulating that Th1 and Th2 subsets direct diverging effector pathways that lead to different patterns and severity of glomerular injury in GN. Th1-predominant responses appear to be associated strongly with proliferative and crescentic forms of GN that result in severe renal injury, while Th2 responses are associated with membranous patterns of injury. The challenge remains to understand fully the relevance of T helper cell subset responses to the spectrum of human GN and to apply this new knowledge to the development of more potent and selective therapeutic strategies.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1583105973870274688","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"P G Tipping"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Centre for Inflammatory Diseases, Department of Medicine, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, Australia"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381137046189945600","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"A R Kitching"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Centre for Inflammatory Diseases, Department of Medicine, Monash University, Clayton, Victoria, Australia"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"13652249"},{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"00099104"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Clinical and Experimental Immunology"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"Oxford University Press (OUP)"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2005-07-28","prism:volume":"142","prism:number":"2","prism:startingPage":"207","prism:endingPage":"215"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["https://academic.oup.com/journals/pages/open_access/funder_policies/chorus/standard_publication_model"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1111%2Fj.1365-2249.2005.02842.x"},{"@id":"https://academic.oup.com/cei/article-pdf/142/2/207/42078376/j.1365-2249.2005.02842.x.pdf"}],"createdAt":"2005-10-18","modifiedAt":"2023-05-05","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360567181255598976","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Mizoribine for crescentic glomerulonephritis with sarcoidosis: effectiveness not only for urinalysis abnormalities but also for hilar lymph node enlargement"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390282681303186816","@type":"Article","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Effect of Dietary Soy Protein on Tumor Necrosis Factor Productivity in Macrophages from Nephritic and Hepatoma-Bearing Rats"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1520290883740426752","@type":"Article","relationType":["isCitedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"ネフローゼ症候群の研究--最近の話題と今後の展望"},{"@language":"ja-Kana","@value":"ネフローゼ ショウコウグン ノ ケンキュウ サイキン ノ ワダイ ト コンゴ ノ テンボウ"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1571698599935007360","@type":"Article","relationType":["isCitedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Anti-ribosomal P antibodies and lupus nephritis"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/2051151842050499840","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Anti-ribosomal P antibodies and lupus nephritis"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1111/j.1365-2249.2005.02842.x"},{"@type":"CIA","@value":"30015018573"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1007/s10165-012-0614-0_references_DOI_UWWOgxW7zI8WxexmZwIphEIRGyk"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.3177/jnsv.54.435_references_DOI_UWWOgxW7zI8WxexmZwIphEIRGyk"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1007/s10157-011-0462-9_references_DOI_UWWOgxW7zI8WxexmZwIphEIRGyk"}]}
