Nature knows how to combine different elements together in a fluidic state for intelligent design of nano-/micro-machines, which operate by pumping, stirring, and diffusion of their internal components. Taking inspirations from nature, scientists endeavor to develop the best materials, geometries, and conditions for self-propelled motion, and to better understand their mechanisms of motion and interactions. Today, microfluidic technology offers considerable advantages for the next generation of biomimetic particles, droplets and capsules. This review summarizes recent achievements in the field of nano-/micromotors, and methods of their external control and collective behaviors, which may stimulate new ideas for a broad range of applications.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248452","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Huanpo Ning"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248451","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Yan Zhang"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248453","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Hong Zhu"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248450","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Andreas Ingham"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen, 5 Ole Maaløes Vej, DK-2200, 1165 København, Denmark"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248454","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Gaoshan Huang"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248448","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Yongfeng Mei"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699993764248449","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Alexander Solovev"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@value":"Department of Materials Science, Fudan University, 220 Handan Road, 200433 Shanghai, China"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"2072666X"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Micromachines"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"MDPI AG"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2018-02-11","prism:volume":"9","prism:number":"2","prism:startingPage":"75"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/"],"url":[{"@id":"https://www.mdpi.com/2072-666X/9/2/75/pdf"}],"createdAt":"2018-02-12","modifiedAt":"2025-10-11","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360566399836644480","@type":"Article","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Strain-modulated photoelectric properties of self-rolled GaAs/Al<sub>0.26</sub>Ga<sub>0.74</sub>As quantum well nanomembrane"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360574095218836736","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Life science nanoarchitectonics at interfaces"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.3390/mi9020075"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.7567/1882-0786/ab2161_references_DOI_VPuBCdnHab9UuhIzGFFG5YV690N"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1039/d0qm00615g_references_DOI_VPuBCdnHab9UuhIzGFFG5YV690N"}]}
