Skin hydration and transepidermal water loss (TEWL) values were measured on the indicated days with a Corneometer®825 and a TEWAMETER TM210, respectively.</jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Results </jats:bold> The maximum increase in skin humidity was reached after 4 weeks, with values of 21.9 ± 1.8% and 8.9 ± 0.9% for emulsion C and control emulsion, respectively. The maximum decrease in TEWL was also reached after 4 weeks, with values of 36.7 ± 4.7% and 5.1 ± 0.8% for the same emulsions.</jats:p><jats:p><jats:bold>Conclusions </jats:bold> It can be concluded that all the tested ceramide‐containing emulsions improved skin barrier function when compared with untreated skin. There was some indication that ceramides 1 and 3 contained in emulsion C might exert a beneficial synergistic effect on skin biochemical properties, such as skin hydration and TEWL, and play a key role in the protection mechanism against SLS irritation.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380579818079325696","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Huey‐Chun Huang"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380579818079325697","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Tsong‐Min Chang"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"00119059"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"13654632"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"International Journal of Dermatology"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"Wiley"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2008-07-17","prism:volume":"47","prism:number":"8","prism:startingPage":"812","prism:endingPage":"819"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1111%2Fj.1365-4632.2008.03687.x"},{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1365-4632.2008.03687.x"}],"createdAt":"2008-07-17","modifiedAt":"2023-10-09","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360576118716949888","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Lycoperoside H, a Tomato Seed Saponin, Improves Epidermal Dehydration by Increasing Ceramide in the Stratum Corneum and Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Effect"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360846643219264256","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Alteration of stratum corneum ceramide profiles in spontaneous canine model of atopic dermatitis"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390013817328658048","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Effects of Milk Amazake on Skin Elasticity, Hydration, and Transepidermal Water Loss: An 8-Week Double-Blind, Randomized, Controlled Trial"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390021226967606656","@type":"Article","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Dietary intervention of prebiotic partially hydrolyzed guar gum improves skin viscoelasticity, stratum corneum hydration, and ‍reduction of trans-epidermal water loss: a ‍randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled clinical study in healthy humans"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1111/j.1365-4632.2008.03687.x"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.3164/jcbn.24-69_references_DOI_a8VPI3EN4Iqc71CLSKGHUPTddOW"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.3390/molecules26195860_references_DOI_a8VPI3EN4Iqc71CLSKGHUPTddOW"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1111/j.1600-0625.2011.01306.x_references_DOI_a8VPI3EN4Iqc71CLSKGHUPTddOW"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.5650/jos.ess22342_references_DOI_a8VPI3EN4Iqc71CLSKGHUPTddOW"}]}
