We measured average Q values of ScS waves in the mantle between earthquakes and each station, and between two stations. The results of the measurement show that the average Q in the South Pacific is 140. We obtain a very low Q of 70–80 for multiple ScS waves traveling in the South Pacific Superswell, suggesting the existence of higher temperature anomalies in the entire mantle in hot spot regions.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1381699996032599552","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Daisuke Suetsugu"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"00948276"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"19448007"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Geophysical Research Letters"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"American Geophysical Union (AGU)"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2001-01-15","prism:volume":"28","prism:number":"2","prism:startingPage":"391","prism:endingPage":"394"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1029%2F2000GL012224"},{"@id":"https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1029/2000GL012224"}],"createdAt":"2004-02-05","modifiedAt":"2023-11-22","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1050856995322968192","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"High Q(ScS) beneath the Ontong Java Plateau"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390282679279712768","@type":"Article","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Current Status and Perspective for Seismological Studies on the Mantle and Core Conducted in Japan"},{"@language":"ja","@value":"マントル・コア構造の地震学的研究"},{"@value":"マントル・コア構造の地震学的研究--日本の現状と展望"},{"@language":"ja-Kana","@value":"マントル コア コウゾウ ノ ジシンガクテキ ケンキュウ ニホン ノ ゲンジョウ ト テンボウ"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390282679530316672","@type":"Article","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Origin of hotspots in the South Pacific: Recent advances in seismological and geochemical models"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1029/2000gl012224"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1186/s40623-019-1077-8_references_DOI_GDOhjOmwe4MEr4OeGu2uN8brWgZ"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.2343/geochemj.2.0229_references_DOI_GDOhjOmwe4MEr4OeGu2uN8brWgZ"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.4294/zisin.61.255_references_DOI_GDOhjOmwe4MEr4OeGu2uN8brWgZ"}]}
