The performance of the three systems is discussed in terms of the altitude coverage of the temperature measurements and physical processes limiting the coverage. The lower frequencies can probe greater altitudes, but the 49.8MHz wind profilers have a minimum range of about 2.1 km limiting their usefulness for some studies.
