In summer, the magnitude of ɛ in the STMW interior was 2–3 × 10<jats:sup>−10</jats:sup> Wkg<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup>, whereas the values at both the upper and lower boundaries of STMW were 4–6 × 10<jats:sup>−10</jats:sup> Wkg<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup>. In winter, on the other hand, ɛ was almost uniform and had a magnitude less than 10<jats:sup>−10</jats:sup> Wkg<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> over the whole depth of STMW. The magnitude of <jats:italic>K</jats:italic><jats:sub><jats:italic>z</jats:italic></jats:sub> was mostly from 10<jats:sup>−6</jats:sup> to 10<jats:sup>−5</jats:sup> m<jats:sup>2</jats:sup>s<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> in summer and from 10<jats:sup>−7</jats:sup> to 10<jats:sup>−5</jats:sup> m<jats:sup>2</jats:sup>s<jats:sup>−1</jats:sup> in winter.
