These forces have to be mastered in order to regard self‐assembly as an effective bottom‐up approach for functional‐device engineering. At such interfaces, prediction of the thermodynamics governing the formation of spatially ordered 2D arrangements is far from being fully understood, even for the physisorption of a single molecular component on the basal plane of a flat surface. Two recent contributions on controlled polymorphism and nanopattern formation render it possible to gain semi‐quantitative insight into the thermodynamics of physisorption at interfaces, paving the way towards 2D supramolecular crystal engineering. Although in these two works different systems have been chosen to tackle such a complex task, authors showed that the chemical design of molecular building blocks is not the only requirement to fulfill when trying to preprogram self‐assembled patterns at the solid–liquid interface.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380298343068256128","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Carlos‐Andres Palma"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1383670318915428866","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Massimo Bonini"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1383670318915428864","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Thomas Breiner"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1383670318915428736","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"Paolo Samorì"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"09359648"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"15214095"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Advanced Materials"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"Wiley"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2009-03-30","prism:volume":"21","prism:number":"13","prism:startingPage":"1383","prism:endingPage":"1386"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1002%2Fadma.200802068"},{"@id":"https://advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1002/adma.200802068"}],"createdAt":"2009-02-07","modifiedAt":"2025-10-06","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360002216659209856","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"2D Networks of Rhombic-Shaped Fused Dehydrobenzo[12]annulenes: Structural Variations under Concentration Control"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360002216871786496","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Supramolecular surface-confined architectures created by self-assembly of triangular phenylene–ethynylene macrocycles via van der Waals interaction"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360017282210054144","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Spontaneous and scanning-assisted desorption–adsorption dynamics in porous supramolecular networks at the solution–solid interface"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390001205341024000","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Formation and Control of Porous Two-Dimensional Molecular Self-Assembly at Solid-Liquid Interfaces"},{"@value":"固液界面における多孔性二次元分子集合体の形成と制御"},{"@language":"ja-Kana","@value":"コエキ カイメン ニ オケル タコウセイ ニジゲン ブンシ シュウゴウタイ ノ ケイセイ ト セイギョ"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1520573329730765568","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Award Accounts : The Chemical Society of Japan Award for 2014 : The Chemical Society of Japan Award for Young Chemists for 2011 : Adaptive Building Blocks Consisting of Rigid Triangular Core and Flexible Alkoxy Chains for Self-Assembly at Liquid/Solid Interfaces"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1002/adma.200802068"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1039/c0cc02780d_references_DOI_UfD1O6onrywFegy8FoI2FQphlIv"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1039/d2nr06400f_references_DOI_UfD1O6onrywFegy8FoI2FQphlIv"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1246/bcsj.20160214_references_DOI_UfD1O6onrywFegy8FoI2FQphlIv"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1021/ja904481j_references_DOI_UfD1O6onrywFegy8FoI2FQphlIv"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.5059/yukigoseikyokaishi.70.1255_references_DOI_UfD1O6onrywFegy8FoI2FQphlIv"}]}
