Oocytes were matured for 24 h in serum‐free media with or without (negative control) the addition of NEFAs dissolved in ethanol or ethanol alone (positive control). Matured oocytes were fertilized and cultured for 7 days in synthetic oviduct fluid medium supplemented with 5% FCS. Embryos that had at least reached the blastocyst stage were vitrified by open pulled straw (OPS) vitrification. Addition of palmitic (C16 : 0) or stearic acid (C18 : 0) during oocyte maturation had significant negative effects on embryo cryotolerance, whereas ethanol or oleic acid (C18 : 1) had no effect. These <jats:italic>in vitro</jats:italic> results suggest that high NEFA concentrations in FF during a period of negative energy balance in high‐yielding dairy cows can have carry‐over effects on embryo quality.</jats:p>"}]}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1380579816080795264","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"MA Shehab‐El‐Deen"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1384233268200952192","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"JLMR Leroy"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1384233268200952194","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"D Maes"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1384233268200952195","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@value":"A Van Soom"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"09366768"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"14390531"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@value":"Reproduction in Domestic Animals"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@value":"Wiley"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2009-01-14","prism:volume":"44","prism:number":"1","prism:startingPage":"140","prism:endingPage":"142"},"reviewed":"false","dc:rights":["http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/termsAndConditions#vor"],"url":[{"@id":"https://api.wiley.com/onlinelibrary/tdm/v1/articles/10.1111%2Fj.1439-0531.2008.01084.x"},{"@id":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1439-0531.2008.01084.x"}],"createdAt":"2008-10-07","modifiedAt":"2023-10-09","relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1390282681313585536","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["isReferencedBy"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Modification of mitochondrial function, cytoplasmic lipid content and cryosensitivity of bovine embryos by resveratrol"},{"@value":"Modification of mitochondria function, cytoplasmic lipid content and cryosensitivity of bovine embryos by resveratrol"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1111/j.1439-0531.2008.01084.x"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.1262/jrd.2016-182_references_DOI_9IiN7hgz5Si96VJaKLvXGk54BSL"}]}
