The hypocotyl got wilted and narrow with straight hyphae on the surface. At the top of the hyphae, there was a black dot. A fungus grew from the hyphae and moved onto medium. When the mycelia on medium were contacted to hypocotyl of cabbage plug seedlings, they were affected with damping-off in hot and humid condition. On the diseased plant, conidiophores were produced as like as the first-founded symptom. Sporangiophores were also produced on the diseased seedlings. Based on morphology of conidiophore, sporangiophore, conidium and sporangiospore, the isolated fungus was identified as Choanephora cucurbitarum (Berk. et Ray.) Thaxter.
