Abstract

The Kamado Project is a Creative Reconstrction Project of University of Tsukuba. The activities centered on the Hojo area of Tsukuba  city, which has suffered two desasters – the Great East Japan earthquake and the tornado on May 6, 2012. We focused on kamado which has been left unused in an old house. A kamado is a traditional Japanese cooker for cooking rice etc., using firewood. Cooking rice using the kamado helps people: (1) Prepare for desasters (2) Bond together (3) Gain awareness of the local resources.
