Description

1) During the past six years from 1959 up to date, 225 patients with carcinoma of the stomach received gastrectomy in our hospital.<br>At the time of operation, 55 cases were at the so-called early stage of the carcinoma.<br>Histological diagnosis of the superficial carcinoma were given to 44 out of 55 cases.<br>2) The superficial carcinomas of 44 cases were classified macroscopically on the criteria proposed by the Japanease Endoscope Society and the results were as follows; I-type 3 cases, II-type 25 cases (IIa 5, IIb 4 and IIc 16), III-type 10 cases, IIc-III-type 5 cases and I+IIc-type one case.<br>3) Gastrocamera examinations were carried out prior to operation on 39 patients with the superficial carcinoma and the findings obtained were presented in this report.<br>4) It is concluded that gastrocamera and gastroscope examinations are very usefull in diagnosis of carcinoma of the stomach at the early stage.
