Solid and melt inclusions in inherited zircon: Tracing UHT metamorphic Mesoproterozoic protolith for Eastern Ghats Belt, India

Inherited zircon grains from high aluminous granulite of Eastern Ghats Belt, India (UHT metamorphism dated as ca. 1000 Ma) yields near-concordant SHRIMP 207Pb/206Pb ages between ca. 1520 Ma to 1890 Ma. We report solid and melt inclusions in these zircon grains, which are also typically of a UHT assemblage, possibly indicating an earlier UHT protolith.
