<p>This special theme clarifies the continuity and discontinuity between culture as a collective representation and personal body sensation with regard to food as an intersection of culture and body. According to the authors’ research approach that employs empirical research based on original source, this special issue puts emphasis on feasibility. In other words, we head for neither pursuit of cases, which are difficult to obtain, nor metaphysical philosophy. However, choosing investigation objects with high feasibility does not imply preference toward easily obtainable objects. Moreover, the possibility of deriving a discordant relationship between culture and body from so-called ordinary cases should be highlighted. Moreover, we aim to contribute to the discussion about minor subsistence. In discussion about minor subsistence, physicality is emphasized. Therefore, dietary culture is an effective field that provides further topic to discuss the balance of industry and subsistence.</p>
