Description

Climate change and depopulation are expected to have a significant impact on various issues in the field of hydrology and water resources. Especially in Japan's mountainous regions, where the birthrate is declining and the population is aging, the problems associated with the aging of the people responsible for the maintenance and management of local water-related infrastructure are becoming more and more pronounced. One of the most notable examples is the maintenance and management of reservoirs. This study addresses the relationship between changes in land use, water use patterns, and rainfall patterns and sediment deposition in reservoirs and rivers. This study is significant in providing fundamental knowledge for considering the role of water infrastructure in agriculture under the circumstances of depopulation and climate change.
