- First records of <i>Gymnothorax albimarginatus</i> (Muraenidae) from the Kagoshima mainland, southern Kyushu, southern Japan

Two specimens (1083–1190 mm total length) of the Whitemargin Moray Gymnothorax albimarginatus (Temminck and Schlegel, 1846) (Muraenidae) were collected from off Kushi, Bonotsu, Minami-satsuma, Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, southern Japan. In Japanese waters, G. albimarginatus has been previously recorded from the Izu Islands (Miyake-jima and Hachijo-jima islands), Wakayama Prefecture, Hyuga-nada sea, Tanega-shima island, Kusagaki Islands, and the vicinity of Okinawa-jima island. Because the previous record from Hyuga-nada sea (east coast of Kyushu, from Oita Prefecture to Kagoshima Prefecture) was based on a single specimen from Miyazaki Prefecture, the present specimens represent the first records of G. albimarginatus from the Kagoshima mainland.
