<p>The Department of Hydrogen Energy Systems at Kyushu University, established in 2010, addresses the global demand for low-carbon and decarbonized societies, driven by environmental concerns and the need for diversified energy sources. Building on earlier initiatives, such as the selection for the Ministry of Education’s 21st Century COE Program in 2003 and the subsequent development of specialized hydrogen engineering courses, it collaborates closely with both domestic and international industries, as well as regional initiatives, particularly those in Fukuoka Prefecture. The department comprises various research laboratories, each focusing on different aspects of hydrogen energy, allowing for a comprehensive approach to research and education. Students conduct research on a wide range of topics, from fundamental studies on hydrogen production, storage, and utilization to applied research in areas such as fuel cell systems and hydrogen storage technologies. Furthermore, the department actively contributes to multiple research centers dedicated to hydrogen energy, providing students with practical experience in cutting-edge technologies and making significant contributions to advancements in the field.</p>
