In this study, we conducted a field experiment applying sand covering with gravel deposited in the Midorikawa Dam lake at the mouth of the Midorikawa River tidal flat, and evaluated effects on ground elevation and the habitat conditions of Ruditapes philippinarum. Six months after covering, elevation remained stable, and both population density and shell-length growth of R. philippinarum increased markedly in sand-covered areas.
