Description
The productivity, safety and conditions of the working environment are closely connected to Ergonomics. This paper describes the usage and application of Ergonomic methods in quality control activities in Korea. The final purpose of this study would be used in the future to develop a systematic approach to appling Ergonomics in Korean industry. The outline of the results are; (1) In the Korean industries, the percentage using Ergonomic methods in QC activities was 53.3%. In these cases the methods were applied mostly to increasing productivity and improving quality control. Other cases application that were found are to workers' motion study and improved design of tools and equipment. (2) The areas of application of Ergonomic methods were found in increasing efficiency, improving products and reducing costs. (3) “The Ergonomics for QC circle education curriculum” to promote the spread of Ergonomics to industry constituent in Korea is proposed.
