説明

The α-amino isobutyric acid (AIB) content in various proteins of animal and plant origin, some purified enzymes and animal tissues was determined by colorimetric method reported in the previous paper [Agr. Biol. Chem., 25, 234 (1961)]
AIB is contained at very small amount in animal proteins, but scarecely in the enzymes and plant proteins tested.
The intestinal wall of rabbit in which AIB was found at the most (0.19%) among the proteins tested, was fractionated into several fractions, and the fraction resistant to acid, alkali and pepsin contained much more AIB than the others. The protein mentioned above is to belong to elastin, and elastin prepared from goat's arteries showed 0.58% of AIB.
