We classified the severity of 66 cerebral palsy patients under 12 years old using the GMFCS, and compared these results with their medical findings. All of the prescribed patients were at more then level III on the GMFCS and half of them were level V. The severity of cerebral palsy as ascertained using the GMFCS had correlations with locomotion evaluated by FIM/WeeFIM, paralysis, complications, and types of wheelchairs and seating systems prescribed. This study concluded·that the GMFCS enabled us to evaluate objectively the severity of each child's disability and was a useful assessment tool to prescribe wheelchairs and seating systems for
