The therapeutic ranges of anticoagulants in 100 patients (aortic valve replacement 50, mitral valve replacement 50) were 22.8±6.6 % with thrombotest (TT) and 1.83±3.1 with TT-INR. These values are considerably lower than the international standard of 2.5 to 3. 5 for prothrombin time (PT)-INR. Platelet aggregation was compared between 50 patients receiving 300 mg/day of ticlopidine and 50 patients receiving 81mg/day of aspirin. ADP aggregation was significantly depressed in the formergroup, but there was no difference in collagen aggregation between the two groups.
