The collec tion efficiency was highly dependent on the sol's pH and less on the specific surface area ratio between collector and ultrafine particles. The highest collec tion efficiency was attained at pH 4 for silica and at pH 3 for oil-water emulsion. The experimental results were partially interpreted by the total interac tion potential theory. In the case of the collection of ultrafine silica a second. mechanism regarding flocculation by the dissolved fraction of the SF comple mented the DLVO theory. In the case of the collection of oil-water emulsion effects regarding the deformable character of the oil drops as well as the hydrodynamic effects derived from the high molecular weight of the oil comple mented the DLVO theory."}],"abstractLicenseFlag":"disallow"}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410282680174030848","@type":"Researcher","personIdentifier":[{"@type":"NRID","@value":"9000254180742"}],"foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"IBAÑEZ Juan Patricio"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Institute for Advanced Materials Processing, Tohoku University"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410282680174030850","@type":"Researcher","personIdentifier":[{"@type":"NRID","@value":"9000254180743"}],"foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"MURAKAMI Masaki"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Toyo Engineering Co."}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410282680174030849","@type":"Researcher","personIdentifier":[{"@type":"NRID","@value":"9000254180744"}],"foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"SASAKI Hiroshi"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"School of Science and Engineering, Waseda University"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"13479725"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"18846629"},{"@type":"PISSN","@value":"http://id.crossref.org/issn/00207020"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"International Journal of the Society of Materials Engineering for Resources"},{"@language":"ja","@value":"Ｉｎｔｅｒｎａｔｉｏｎａｌ　Ｊｏｕｒｎａｌ　ｏｆ　ｔｈｅ　Ｓｏｃｉｅｔｙ　ｏｆ　Ｍａｔｅｒｉａｌｓ　Ｅｎｇｉｎｅｅｒｉｎｇ　ｆｏｒ　Ｒｅｓｏｕｒｃｅｓ"},{"@language":"en","@value":"Int.J.Soc.Mater.Eng.Resour."},{"@language":"en","@value":"Int.
