This contribution introduces an adapted ball-on-pyramid test configuration which allows the experimental investigation of combined contact configurations consisting of more than one material pairing. In the proposed test setup, a ball is loaded against four flat test samples positioned in a pyramid-like sample holder with an opening angle of 90°. The test samples are arranged on the circumference in a regular manner. The ball rotates uniformly around its vertical axis and slides over the samples. The coefficient of friction, the running-in wear, the linear wear rate, the wear scar diameter, and the weight loss of four different sample materials and their combinations are compared and discussed. The obtained results for combined contact configurations with more than one material pairing show that a manipulation of the friction and wear characteristics is possible."}],"abstractLicenseFlag":"disallow"}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410282680245647489","@type":"Researcher","personIdentifier":[{"@type":"NRID","@value":"9000322105419"}],"foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Krasmik Viktor"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Workgroup on System Technologies and Engineering Design Methodology, Hamburg University of Technology"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410282680245647488","@type":"Researcher","personIdentifier":[{"@type":"NRID","@value":"9000322105420"}],"foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Schlattmann Josef"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Workgroup on System Technologies and Engineering Design Methodology, Hamburg University of Technology"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"LISSN","@value":"1881218X"},{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"18812198"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Tribology Online"},{"@language":"en","@value":"Tribology Online"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Japanese Society of Tribologists"},{"@language":"ja","@value":"一般社団法人 日本トライボロジー学会"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2016","prism:volume":"11","prism:number":"2","prism:startingPage":"130","prism:endingPage":"139"},"reviewed":"false","url":[{"@id":"https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/trol/11/2/11_130/_pdf"}],"availableAt":"2016","foaf:topic":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=friction","dc:title":"friction"},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=wear","dc:title":"wear"},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=tribological%20testing","dc:title":"tribological testing"},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=ball-on-pyramid%20test%20setup","dc:title":"ball-on-pyramid test setup"},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=material%20combination","dc:title":"material combination"}],"relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360011144015833088","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Springer Handbook of Materials Measurement Methods"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1361418521088540544","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Evaluation of the wear and abrasion resistance of hard coatings by ball-on-three-disk test methods—A case study"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1361981471381703424","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Tribological Properties of Nitrided Layers, as Determined by the Cone-Three-Cylinder Wear Test"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1362262944737725184","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Friction Science and Technology"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1362544420378900992","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Diesel Fuel Lubricity by Standard Four Ball Apparatus Utilizing Ball on Three Disks, BOTD"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1363388845024749696","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Improved ball crater micro-abrasion test based on a ball on three disk configuration"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1363670321136379904","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"A new approach to wear testing of case‐hardened steels"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"JALC","@value":"oai:japanlinkcenter.org:2000977137"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.2474/trol.11.130"},{"@type":"CIA","@value":"130005149887"}]}
