When the alkali-silica expansion is excessively accelerated by the environmental condition around concrete structure, it is suggested that the damages such as the reduction in bond strength between concrete cover and steel reinforcement bar, the reduction in compressive strength of internal concrete, and the yielding or breaking of steel reinforcement bar will occur to a significant extent.
