The powder was mixed with Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> and carbon and heated at 1500°C in Ar + H<SUB>2</SUB>. X-ray powder diffraction analysis showed MoSi<SUB>2</SUB> and Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>. For lattice constants of synthesis powder, c-axis changed by addition of Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, indicating the substitution of Si with Al in
