説明

Benzene derivatives and some other organic molecules were subjected to high intensity ultrasound for synthesis of nanostructured carbon-based materials. Simultaneous addition of ferrocene and chloride (ZnCl_2, CoCl_2, NiCl_2) to o-dichlobenzene (DCB) and subsequent sonication resulted in the carbon nanotube formation, while sole addition of them did not give nanotube but fine particles aggregate. At the addition of zinc (metal) particles to DCB, unexpectedly, hexagonal crystals of zinc oxide were formed at the surface of zinc particles. From an aqueous solution of dicyandiamide including CoCl_2 or NiCl_2, nanotube structure was formed by ultrasonication. Through a variety of experiments on the sonochemical synthesis of nanostructural materials from organic molecules, the following points are to be considered systematically; (i) what are proper reactants and what are proper solvents, (ii) what are presented in the cavitation bubbles, (iii) how properly can the desired products be separated from as-sonicated liquid and how properly can they be observed by proper analyses.
