In these polyaddition reactions, a small amount of <I>m</I>-cresol acts as a catalyst as well as a radical inhibitor for bismaleimides. Their chemical structures were determined by elemental analyses and from IR spectrum of model compound, <I>i. e.</I>, <I>N</I>-phenyl-2-phthalimidosuccinimide. Films can be cast from their solutions in polar solvent such as dimethylformamide, but they were not flexible.
