Taking that opportunity, they began to tell a new story by which they were able to share their own harsh experiences. In this story, they protest that the discrimination they suffered should not be attributed to themselves but seen as a problem originating in the social system. Their story has also served to encourage the patients and their families to live their new lives emancipated from blaming themselves, freed also from the fear that they would cause trouble to their families and local communities by suffering from the disease.<br>\nThis story had not been shared among the patients before the suit. Instead, the lawyers intentionally produced it for the purpose of prosecuting the case. Since then, it has also become widespread in the public eye through mass media coverage of the campaign. Moreover, the suit has emphasized the political correctness of the story and developed it into a dominant master narrative for general society.
