In particular, we consider a neural network with recurrent connections via depression and facilitation synapses, and we analyze the influence of synaptic modulation on the dynamics of synaptic activity via slow-fast analysis with time-parameterized bifurcation parameters. The model is described by three variables: one represents synaptic activity, whereas the other two represent modulation in synaptic transmission efficacy. The variables that represent the synaptic modulation can be considered as slow variables that affect the properties of synaptic activity, which can be regarded as the fast variable. The analysis indicates that an attractor in the fast system corresponding to an active state of the neural network appears or disappears according to the activities of the neural network. The concept of dynamical reorganization of the attractor structure can potentially uncover the mechanism of flexible brain functions."}],"abstractLicenseFlag":"disallow"}],"creator":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410283687150831745","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Katori Yuichi"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"FIRST, Aihara Innovative Mathematical Modelling Project, Japan Science and Technology Agency"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1410283687150831744","@type":"Researcher","foaf:name":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Aihara Kazuyuki"}],"jpcoar:affiliationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"Institute of Industrial Science, The University of Tokyo"}]}],"publication":{"publicationIdentifier":[{"@type":"EISSN","@value":"21885079"}],"prism:publicationName":[{"@language":"en","@value":"IEICE Proceeding Series"}],"dc:publisher":[{"@language":"en","@value":"The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers"}],"prism:publicationDate":"2014-03-17","prism:volume":"1","prism:startingPage":"602","prism:endingPage":"605"},"reviewed":"false","availableAt":"2014-03-17","foaf:topic":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/all?q=General%20Medicine","dc:title":"General Medicine"}],"relatedProduct":[{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360002219376424832","@type":"Article","resourceType":"学術雑誌論文(journal article)","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Representational Switching by Dynamical Reorganization of Attractor Structure in a Network Model of the Prefrontal Cortex"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360574094235268864","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Synaptic Theory of Working Memory"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360574095700101504","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Complex nonlinear dynamics of the Hodgkin–Huxley equations induced by time scale changes"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1360855568674257152","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Differential signaling via the same axon of neocortical pyramidal neurons"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1361981468760961664","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Neural Networks with Dynamic Synapses"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1362825895806427648","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Synaptic Basis of Cortical Persistent Activity: the Importance of NMDA Receptors to Working Memory"}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1363107371189629440","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"Neurons with graded response have collective computational properties like those of two-state neurons."}]},{"@id":"https://cir.nii.ac.jp/crid/1363388844874203904","@type":"Article","relationType":["references"],"jpcoar:relatedTitle":[{"@value":"NEURAL EXCITABILITY, SPIKING AND BURSTING"}]}],"dataSourceIdentifier":[{"@type":"JALC","@value":"oai:japanlinkcenter.org:1003521286"},{"@type":"CROSSREF","@value":"10.15248/proc.1.602"},{"@type":"OPENAIRE","@value":"doi_dedup___::6cfac980ed50d143eb3a33ccc8e35123"}]}
