Description

The microtremor array exploration is a technique to infer the characteristics of wave velocity structures for the underground and is widely used in both academic and engineering fields mostly relating to the earthquake hazard mitigation. Although the exploration is useful, it requires a certain amount of effort during the advance planning for location settings of seismometers due to the complex shape of the road network. We have thus developed a supportive program to reduce the effort using map data on the internet provided by the OpenStreetMap foundation. By applying the program to several regions, we confirmed that the program successfully extracted the possible locations where the seismometers should be set. The allowable error, which is defined by the deviation measured from a regular triangle, was estimated to be 3.5% from the comparison with the previous study on microtremor array exploration.
