Description

While the most representative performance index of the satellite navigation system would be position accuracy, other indexes, integrity, continuity, and availability are also used to define the performance standards. Integrity and continuity are measures of reliability for the position solution derived by the satellite navigation system and required to achieve relatively high level in general. Meanwhile, in case of the recent satellite navigation systems, sometimes the operation is provided subject to the service contract. Under such a background, it becomes necessary to evaluate the service performance on a regular basis, however, it would be especially difficult to evaluate integrity and continuity due to the small number of failures during evaluation period. In the paper, the author explains performance indexes for the satellite navigation system and the introduction of the confidence limit to evaluation of integrity and continuity with the small number of failures.
