However, it is crucial to ensure the safety of ionic liquids for use as drugs. To address this, we introduce ionic liquids formed from safe materials such as choline, amino acids, fatty acids, and lipids. The use of biocompatible ionic liquids has enabled the development of mid-molecular drugs or transdermal vaccines that exhibit sustained-release properties of DDS. Moreover, there are great expectations for the use of ionic liquids in new modalities such as nucleic acid
