Description

Some reagents used in students’ experiments contain mercury. Since the concentration of mercury in such reagents are several orders of magnitude higher than the wastewater standard, a release of the reagents even in a little portion causes a serious contamination of wastewater. In this study, to prevent such unexpected discharge of mercury in the student’s experiment, mercury traps using activated carbon have been produced and set in sinks in the laboratory. Mercury was adsorbed on the trap in the average of 2 μg/g and mercury concentration in wastewater kept under the regulation value.
