@@@Looking back upon controversy between Haberms and Rawls, this paper considers the rationality of consensus. Habermas and Ralws go different ways along with each understanding of the use of public and private reason, although they keep catch alive Kantian's practical philosophy in common. In Rawls, the use of public reason means reasoning of the legislator, the administrative division and the judiciary. In Habermas, on the other hands, it is the use of reason in public sphere that private persons gather realized by Kant. There are some problems with Rawls's use of public reason and Habermas's discourse praxis each other.
