It is also an important work for indicating the features of Tiantai thought after Zhanran’s time. The <i>Zhiguan ji zhong yiyi</i> was introduced to Japan by Saichō 最澄 after his visit to Tang China. It was then widely circulated and several versions are extant. The <i>Zhi guan ji zhong yiyi</i> was not included in Chinese canons, but is preserved in the <i>Zokuzōkyō</i> 続蔵経 supplement to the canon （vol. 55, X 918）.
